Magic/Mana System Details

portalWhat mana is:
In Paradigne mana is what we call portal blocks. Through the use of special commands (which your skillset may or may not have) you can produce special abilities that require and deplete this substance. One example of this is the /mark command, which will mark your location for teleportation back to said location later using the /recall command. Both of these commands use small amounts of mana.

swordHow to get mana:
Currently the only two ways to get mana is through extracting it from mobs, or creating it in cauldrons. The only way to extract mana from creatures currently is to destroy them. After a mob is destroyed, they may or may not release magic for you to capture, if they do then it will simply fall as a portal block that you may pick up and store in your inventory. A table explaining the rate of drop and amount of drop for each creature is connected to this page for those curious. As far as mana creation via cauldrons go, please refer to the recipe table below for details.

lapisHow to use mana:
To use mana, first check the cost of the spell you wish to use and ensure you are able to use it. Once you know this, simply ensure you have the required amount of mana in your inventory. Most likely the spell will deplete that which was required for the spell, leaving you with the desired effect. If you encounter any issues, please ask around or inform an admin.

Mana Extraction Values

skeleton
Skeletons:

1 drop 100% of the time (o)
These creatures are the work of an intelligent source of magic, and as such assure a successful extraction.

creeper
Creeper:

2 drops 50% of the time (oo)
These powerfully magical creatures are opt to explode if the extraction process is not done just right - due to this instability it can be difficult to extract their magical essence successfully.

zombie
Zombie:

1 drop 75% of the time (o)
The outward decay of this beast is a testament to the magic that created it. The sloppy nature of this creation can make it difficult if not impossible at times to extract, however most of the time it is successful if you don't mind getting your hands dirty...

pigzombie
PigZombie:

2 drops 50% of the time (oo)
A greater form of the original zombie, it has twice the magical essence, but an equal form of decay risk.

ghast
Ghast:

3 drops 100% of the time (ooo)
Absolute teeming with magical power, this giant beast drops quadruple what lessor beasts drop - every time.

slime
Slime:

1 drop 100% of the time (o)

giant
Giant:

3 drops 100% of the time (ooo/oooo)
4 ADDITIONAL drops 75% of the time
Once zombies, these giants are still not exactly stable, but their mere size shows their potential to release a lot of their magic upon death - 75% just like the other zombies.

pig
Pig:
1 drop 33% of the time (o)
Known to have lessor magical properties, pigs blood can sometimes possess magical properties.
